This Privacy Policy describes how Quok Games ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application and web service. By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you create an account and use the app:
- Solana wallet address — Used as your primary account identifier and for token balance verification.
- Username / display name — Your chosen display name shown to other players.
- Email address (optional) — Used for account recovery, push notification preferences, competition updates, and periodic communications about the app. You may provide an email during signup or at any time in your profile settings.
- Password — Securely hashed using bcrypt; we never store or have access to your plaintext password.
- Puzzle completion data — Including solve times, scores, win/loss records, and streak information.
- Chat messages — Messages sent through the in-app global chat feature.
- Device timezone — Used to determine daily puzzle availability and schedule notifications at appropriate local times.
- Push notification tokens — Device tokens used to deliver push notifications about puzzles, competitions, and achievements.
- Usage and interaction data — Such as screen views, puzzle starts/completions, app opens, and session identifiers, used for internal analytics to improve the app experience.
- Crash and error data — Diagnostic data collected when the app encounters errors, used to identify and fix bugs.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used for the following purposes:
- Account authentication — Verifying your identity and wallet ownership.
- Game functionality — Tracking puzzle completions, maintaining streaks, calculating leaderboard rankings, and managing challenges.
- Communications — Sending push notifications about daily puzzles, competition results, achievements, and streak reminders. If you provide an email, we may also send email communications about app updates, weekly competition winners, and promotional content.
- Social features — Enabling in-app chat, friends lists, head-to-head challenges, and activity feeds.
- Analytics — Understanding how users interact with the app to improve performance, features, and user experience. This is first-party analytics only; we do not share this data with third-party analytics services.
- Security and anti-cheat — Detecting and preventing fraudulent activity, abuse, and cheating.
- Referral program — Tracking referral codes and rewarding users who refer new players.
- Competitions and prizes — Determining eligibility, calculating rankings, selecting winners, and distributing prizes for our phased competitions and weekly prize pools. Your wallet address, display name, puzzle performance data, and ranking information are publicly visible on in-app leaderboards.
- Identity verification — We may request identity verification before distributing prizes exceeding $100 USD in value, as outlined in our competition Terms & Eligibility.
Email Communications
If you provide an email address, we may use it to:
- Send account recovery information (backup codes)
- Notify you about weekly competition winners and prize awards
- Contact you for prize distribution and identity verification if you are a competition winner
- Share app updates, new features, and promotional content
- Deliver important account or security notifications
You can opt out of promotional emails at any time by contacting us at the email address below or using the unsubscribe link in our emails. Providing an email address is optional and not required to use the app.
Data Storage & Security
We take the security of your data seriously. Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database with the following security measures in place:
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage
- Authentication is handled via secure session tokens with expiration
- Rate limiting is enforced on all API endpoints to prevent abuse
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
- Login lockout protection after multiple failed attempts
- Content filtering on chat messages to prevent abuse
- HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) is enforced
Third-Party Services
We integrate with the following third-party services:
- Solana Blockchain — Used for wallet address verification and $QUOK token balance checks. Your wallet address is sent to Solana RPC endpoints to verify token holdings.
- Resend — Used to send transactional and promotional email communications. Your email address is shared with Resend only if you have provided one.
- Expo Push Notifications — Used to deliver push notifications to your device. Your device push token is shared with Expo's push notification service.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect location data
- We do not collect contacts or address book information
- We do not collect photos, videos, or media from your device
- We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or cross-app tracking
- We do not display third-party advertisements
Account Deletion
You can delete your account directly from within the app by navigating to your Profile and selecting the "Delete Account" option. Account deletion will permanently remove:
- Your profile information (display name, email, wallet association)
- All puzzle completion history and statistics
- Chat messages and social connections
- Achievement and streak data
- Push notification tokens and session data
Account deletion is immediate and irreversible. Deleting your account will forfeit any pending prizes or rewards. You may also request account deletion by contacting us at the email address listed below.
Data Retention
Your account data, including puzzle history and chat messages, is retained for as long as your account remains active. Once you delete your account (either through the app or by contacting us), your personal data will be removed within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain information.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access your data — You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Delete your data — You can delete your account at any time from within the app, or by contacting us.
- Opt out of emails — You can unsubscribe from email communications at any time.
- Opt out of push notifications — You can disable push notifications through your device settings at any time.
- Data portability — You can request your data in a portable format by contacting us.
Children's Privacy
Our app is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. Age verification is required during the account signup process. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a user under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
